English Country Dances Dress Code

"Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders.
Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another,
for ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’ "
I Peter 5:5

Note: Our dress code may be modified to be in keeping with a theme for a specific ball.    The modesty standard of this dress code should still be followed regardless of theme.

In adhering to our club goal to give honor to God, and show respect to one another,
Kairos Speech and Debate Club dress code is as follows:

All ladies should wear dresses (No pants or slacks please). See picture for specific details.
· Gloves, bustles and hoops are welcome
All gentlemen should wear menswear. See picture for specific details.
· Ties, sport coats, tuxedoes, bowties, vests, period costumes, etc., are encouraged. Dress shoes requested if at all possible.
Other recommendations:
Remember that this form of dance is athletic and beautiful. Your attire should allow your arms to move freely in all directions, including to the side and overhead. Choose your footwear wisely. You will be dancing all evening!
At the Ball:
At registration, if someone’s attire does not adhere to the dress code, they will be dismissed from the ball without refund.  They will be reconsidered for reentry, if changes have been made.  Assessment of appropriate wear is the full discretion of Kairos Speech and Debate Club.

Gentlemen: Follow this example when choosing your attire.
In addition: There are some variations that are just as acceptable.  Nice dress shirt with vest, and ties are great.
Avoid too casual such as jeans, or t-shirts.
